Industrial Strength Underpinnings
AirPlay is a replacement for the in-seat software that comes with IFE vendors’ hardware systems. It works with vendors’ features like audio/video on-demand, while adding fantastic new capabilities, unprecedented stability, speed and graphic sophistication.
AirPlay is based on NewGoo, CoKinetic’s industrial strength, patent-pending xml technology for creating cloud computing applications.
NewGoo comes in both Java and platform-native versions. It’s used to
create highly-sophisticated, web-delivered distributed applications and
really dazzling user interfaces in embedded systems, such as in-flight
entertainment. This technology enables embedded systems to go beyond
their previous limitations by delivering complex applications
efficiently, dynamically and flexibly, without requiring extensive
memory.

CoKinetic’s technology is uniquely well-suited to IFE embedded systems.
Airplay provides unprecedented flexibility for deploying almost
unlimited advanced IFE features, such as shopping, interactive maps,
advertising, email, instant messaging, chat, food ordering, gaming, and
much more.
The AirPlay product suite consists of three main platform elements:
AirPlay: A runtime engine that allows you to display complex
distributed applications that combines on-demand audio and video to
deliver a robust user experience. The AirPlay engine is flexible and
based on open standards (XML, JS and HTML).
AirPlay: Creator A GUI development environment that allows you to build your integrated application in a WYSIWYG style editor and preview how it will display at run-time.
AirPlay: Updater Developers use the AirPlay: Updater tool to manage all aspects of modifying their distributed applications including:
‣ Assigning role-based permissions
‣ Deploying updates
‣ Managing the update cycle to fleets of aircraft or individual aircraft
‣ Checking the status of updates within the development cycle
‣ Creating packages of updates and rotations
‣ Managing workflow
